About Us

Springer’s Learning Centre (SLC) opened its doors in September 1982 with an enrolment of 10 students. The brainchild of Margret Gilkes nee Springer (aka Aunty Chunee), the school was designed to prepare children in the pre-school ages for entry into primary school through a carefully designed curriculum which incorporated the core principles of “Reading, Writing and Arithmetic” with that of Music, Computer literacy and Physical Exercise. The core staff comprised Margaret, her sister and co-founder Ruth Mc Lean nee Springer (Aunty Ruthie), Eutrice Darbeau nee Henry (Aunty Eutrice) and Sylvia Springer (Aunty Sylvi). Over its over forty years of existence, SLC’s over 500 graduates have gone on to make their mark in the fields of Medicine, Engineering, Business and Music to name a few.
