About Us
Springer’s Learning Centre (SLC) opened its doors in September 1982 with an enrolment of 10 students. The brainchild of Margret Gilkes nee Springer (aka Aunty Chunee), the school was designed to prepare children in the pre-school ages for entry into primary school through a carefully designed curriculum which incorporated the core principles of “Reading, Writing and Arithmetic” with that of Music, Computer literacy and Physical Exercise. The core staff comprised Margaret, her sister and co-founder Ruth Mc Lean nee Springer (Aunty Ruthie), Eutrice Darbeau nee Henry (Aunty Eutrice) and Sylvia Springer (Aunty Sylvi). Over its over forty years of existence, SLC’s over 500 graduates have gone on to make their mark in the fields of Medicine, Engineering, Business and Music to name a few.

Hear from our parents/alumni
Our parents love working with us, just read what they have to say!
Over the next 10 years our six children completed their preparatory education under the astute guidance and tutelage of Aunty Ruthy, Aunty Jean and Aunty Dianne.
Today, all of my children are successful professionals in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Medicine and Law.
My wife Irma and I have always attributed their academic (and now their professional) success in no small way to the strong foundation which they received in phonics and the 3R’s at Springer’s.
Now that we have our grandchildren, we are confident that our children will repeat this winning formula by now having their own children attend this August institution.
Because of our continuing involvement with the school we have every confidence that the new generation of excellent teachers and staff will continue to build of the strong foundation left by Aunty Ruthy and her pioneering band of educators.”
The Montessori method was developed by Educator Maria Montessori.
It's a children led method where children are guided to learn by using hands on materials and experiences mainly through play.
The Pre-school method at Springer's Learning Centre incorporates all forms of learning styles including the use of materials, language, Mathematical concepts and creative expressions.
This pre-school method lays a solid foundation and prepares the children for the demands of Primary School and beyond."
This commitment to creating a positive enjoyable educational experience for pre-schoolers resulted in my children and their cousins who all attended Springer’s Learning Center, going on to excel, not only academically and professionally, but with a sound grounding in moral and spiritual values.
Today, Springer’s Learning Center continues its tradition as a beacon of pre-school education in Tunapuna and environs.
